Apple Announcements We Want Most on September 9

Apple has never shipped a foldable phone, so an iPhone Ultra would be the rare launch that changes the basic shape of its most important product.

The Ultra line already offers long battery life, strong GPS and a rugged case. We want a fourth generation with a clearer purpose than incremental sensors.

AirPods are used for hours every day, so a better fit, longer battery life and cleaner microphones would matter more than another lightly explained AI feature.

The Pro iPhone now changes by degrees: camera reach, chip speed and materials. We want one improvement users can feel without comparing specification sheets.

Apple Intelligence still depends too heavily on delayed features and uneven Siri responses. Faster, dependable everyday assistance would be a bigger upgrade than another image generator.

Apple has the devices, services and household accounts needed for a credible home hub. It still lacks one simple screen that holds the system together.

The iPad mini is unusually good for reading, travel and handheld games. An OLED display would finally give the smallest iPad the contrast of Apple’s premium models.

Current book-style foldables are still noticeably thicker than ordinary phones. Apple has waited long enough to make the closed device comfortable in a pocket.

The crease remains the first defect people notice on most folding displays. A panel that hides it in normal use would be a meaningful hardware achievement.

Two screens create useful possibilities for reading, video calls and multitasking, but only if iOS treats the inner display as more than a stretched iPhone.
