Fate, ritual, apocalypse and immortality are everywhere; they mostly changed vocabulary.

1.
Ritual purity
Ritual purity survives in wellness regimes, political language and rules about contaminated people or ideas. The substances change, but cleansing still promises moral as well as physical order.

2.
Sacrifice
Sacrifice remains persuasive when hardship is said to redeem a nation, movement or future generation. Modern politics often sanctifies costs that fall on people outside the decision.

3.
Ancestor worship
Family names, inherited stories and genetic ancestry keep the dead active in identity and obligation. Modern genealogy services have industrialized an old desire for ancestral presence.

4.
Pilgrimage
Festival travel, memorial visits, sports journeys and famous restaurants can follow the structure of pilgrimage: distance, anticipation, shared ritual and transformation at a special place.
3
5.
Fate
People still explain success, love and disaster through destiny, except the language may be algorithms, personality types or the universe. Uncertainty keeps generating stories of an intended path.

6.
Apocalypse
Apocalyptic belief now appears through climate collapse, technological extinction, civilizational decline and financial reset. Some risks are real; the total ending gives them narrative certainty.

7.
Immortality
Immortality moved from souls and resurrection into cryonics, mind uploading and longevity laboratories. Technical vocabulary has not removed the ancient refusal to accept personal extinction.

8.
Omens
People read elections, markets, coincidences and natural events as signs of a larger turn. Data-rich societies have created more possible omens, not fewer.

9.
Sacred objects
Phones, flags, artworks and celebrity objects acquire treatment far beyond their material function. Secular societies still create relics whose contact and provenance confer status.

10.
Taboo
Every community maintains acts, words or relationships treated as forbidden beyond ordinary calculation. Calling them unacceptable rather than taboo does not eliminate the underlying social boundary.
